STREET2SCHOOL LEGACY PROJECT 2026 EBF VISITS THE PERE OF GBARAMATU KINGDOM, WARRI SOUTH WEST LGA OF DELTA STATE
Earlier today, as part of the Street2School Legacy Project 2026, the Ernest Bebenimibo Foundation (EBF) continued its commitment to reaching children and young people in underserved communities with educational support, encouragement and inspiration.
The first phase of this year’s outreach took place in Oporoza, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West LGA of Delta State, where the Foundation visited schools, engaged with school communities and reached hundreds of pupils and students with educational materials, while also appreciating teachers for their dedication to educating the next generation.
COURTESY VISIT TO THE PALACE
The day’s activities commenced with a courtesy visit to the palace of the traditional ruler of the Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, Hrm Oboro-Gbaraun 11,Aketekpe, Agadagba, the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom.
The visit was particularly significant because the monarch had offered his prayers and encouragement to the Foundation at the early stages of its journey in 2020.
During the visit, the EBF team presented an update on the Foundation’s journey and activities from its establishment in 2020 to date, highlighting the various educational, humanitarian and community-focused interventions undertaken over the years.
The Foundation also acknowledged the valuable support it has received from notable and illustrious sons and daughters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, whose contributions and goodwill have been of great importance to the Foundation’s work. EBF expressed its sincere appreciation for their support and commitment to initiatives that impact lives within the community and beyond.
The team also requested the monarch’s continued prayers, goodwill and support as EBF advances its mission of reaching underserved communities and empowering lives.
The Foundation was warmly received and entertained at the palace by Chief George Timiyan, Chief Julius Tonfawei and other notable chiefs. In appreciation of the monarch’s hospitality, prayers, goodwill and continued support, EBF presented him with gifts on behalf of the Foundation.
The visit concluded with prayers for the Foundation, its leadership, volunteers, partners and the continued success of its programmes.
EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH
Following the palace visit, the team proceeded to the schools.
1. GBARAUN GRAMMAR SCHOOL
At Gbaraun Grammar School, EBF reached over 100 students with educational support, including:
120 School bags
4000 Notebooks
120 Mathematical sets and
Writing materials
The team also engaged with the students, encouraging them to take their education seriously, believe in their abilities and remain committed to building a better future.
2. FIYEWEI PRIMARY SCHOOL
The team also visited Fiyewei Primary School, Oporoza where over 200 pupils were reached with educational support.
The pupils received:

3000 Notebooks
150 Mathematical sets and
Writing materials
TEACHER APPRECIATION
Recognising that meaningful educational development goes beyond providing materials to learners, the Foundation also extended its appreciation to the teachers who continue to educate, guide and nurture the children.
Through the Teacher Appreciation Initiative, EBF reached over 50 teachers with appreciation care kits.
The initiative was designed to communicate a simple but important message:
“Thank you for educating, inspiring and shaping the next generation.”
EBF recognises that teachers play an essential role in creating opportunities for children and remains committed to appreciating their contribution to the educational journey.
OVERCOMING ACCESSIBILITY CHALLENGES
One of the major challenges encountered during the outreach was accessibility. The difficult terrain and access routes presented significant challenges for the team and logistics.
However, in keeping with EBF’s commitment to reaching communities that are often underserved, the team persevered and successfully completed the outreach.
The experience once again reinforced one of the Foundation’s core commitments:

CONCLUSION
The Street2School Legacy Project 2026 at Oporoza, Gbaramatu Kingdom, was a meaningful engagement that combined community leadership engagement, educational support for learners and appreciation for teachers.
From reconnecting with the traditional institution that supported the Foundation at the beginning of its journey, to recognising the contributions of illustrious sons of the kingdom, reaching pupils and students, and appreciating teachers despite significant accessibility challenges, the outreach demonstrated EBF’s continued commitment to its mission.
